Synopsis
We dwell in different spaces. Physically and mentally, we have always been disconnected from each other. Everyone has their stories, but we all are humans and emotions keep us connected with the fellow humans.
A child has a gun in his head, a Merchant Navy servant is about to die, a guide kills tourist, a woman is in depression, a girl wants love, an unknown person brings gift for child whose mother wants to kill her own child, a bowler wants revenge – some simple and some complex stories trying to explore the different emotions of human lives.
In a series of 17 short plays, over 35 vibrant characters search for meaning in their lives through sexuality, death, revenge and love, thinking within their intimate whispers, physical, philosophical, psychological exchanges and life-changing revelations.
SEASON X | EPISODE Y : S X | E Y is a kaleidoscope of internal conflicts of humans, their interconnections and the darkness inside the human psyche.
Director’s Note
The idea of this play came from discussion with Mohit Takalkar. I belong to young theatre wing of Aasakta and we wanted to explore something which deals with sensibility of our generation. When Mohit suggested us the idea of compiling short plays, we were excited, energised and thrilled to explore this concept.
After a lot of readings and improvisations we finalised 20 plays, all with different themes, yet had some similarity with each other. These 20 plays were compiled into a single theatrical piece.
We are globalised but disconnected. We are living in an era of constant fear and terror. We are confused. We are killers, yet we are getting killed. We are becoming robots. We are politically abused.
Season X | Episode Y is a question. It deals with the question of human identity, internal conflicts and the dark side of human emotions.
