Synopsis
This is a story of the journey of five friends. Arjun, Vivek, Rounak, Neil and Sameer are friends in college. They start a magazine called “Youth Fever” to generate discussions and, in fact, a movement against all malpractices of some students that they have observed in college. Slowly but surely they receive support from students of other colleges too. However, when gradually, Arjun starts adopting violent means of protest, the others move away from this activity.
They eventually go on their diverse paths. Vivek becomes an accountant, Rounak joins his father in his business, and Neil goes to the US to study in the media field. Sameer, unsure of himself, follows Neil there and he too pursues the same field. Arjun alone continues the activity.
Two years have passed. Sameer’s final project film, about the magazine “Youth Fever” and the activity in which they were involved, has been panned by all in his film-school. Neil too dismisses it as nostalgia and of no real value. Sameer is in a dilemma. Neil returns to India having finished his course.
Upon returning to India, Neil starts touching base with all his old friends and activities. There he finds that much has changed in two years. “Youth Fever” has changed form and, in fact, is going stronger than before. Old friends, who once shared a common vision and goal, have gone on diverse paths. Caught in the web of the life they have chosen, find it difficult to reconnect with each other.
Their journey has taken them all in different directions. After a lot of turbulence, they finally acknowledge the fact that they all are on diverse paths, following different philosophies.
Chautha Arjun is essentially the story of Neil’s journey, his coming to terms with changing relationships, his realizations about the strength of his roots…for himself and others with whom he was connected.
